Sinopsis
This book explores how pre-service English teachers in Indonesia can learn to teach through reflection by integrating reflective practice into microteaching. Responding to the realities of EFL classrooms limited exposure to English, diverse learner needs, and complex instructional demands it positions microteaching as a structured bridge between theory and practice where student teachers can rehearse core teaching skills in a supportive, low-risk environment. The book emphasizes that professional growth is strengthened when teaching decisions are examined critically through systematic reflection supported by observation, feedback, and (when possible) video-based evidence rather than memory or impressions.
Organized in a clear developmental sequence, the chapters move from foundational ideas of reflective teaching and microteaching in teacher preparation to professional competence in language teaching, then to the design and implementation of reflective microteaching in practice. Readers are guided through practical cycles such as planning, teaching, receiving feedback, reflecting, and re-teaching, highlighting how peer and lecturer input can deepen pedagogical awareness and improve classroom performance. Ultimately, the book offers both a conceptual framework and practical guidance to help future EFL teachers become reflective, competent, and adaptive professionals prepared for real classroom challenges.
